Plugging away

Still here, busy with work-craziness. I am savoring the chev and the minisweater. Each moment of knitting is a moment I am not stressed about work. Ahhh...

So this weekend I am planning a sewing frenzy after the Dance we are attending on Saturday Night. This dance could mean big things for me and the Hubs. The dance ('sock-hop' *cringe*) is being held by CenterStage, a dance studio here in town we are thinging about working with to create a monthly dance in Pensacola with. We also want to start to provide workshops by Lindy Instructors from all over the country, and a good working relationship with CenterStage could be the venue we have been looking for. To be able to provide workshop space so we can have the instructors we want teaching in the area....a dream I just recently discovered. So we'll have to see how it goes this weekend, it might all be a bust. But you see, I am evil, and have another venue I thought about today! Craziness!!

So this isn't a text only post, I leave you with a picture of the sweet viola plantlet that opened up this morning, and my new fuschia I found at Wally-World:

Oh, yeah!! I have Jury Duty next week*sigh*, so expect some Seriously big progress on my WIPS.
Talk to you later, Chickadees

Gotta love car trips

Last week my husband, friend Kim and I drove to Atlanta, Ga for the Atlanta Lindy Exchange. Four days of non-stop dancing. My feet are still tired, but man-o-man was it worth it! My husband deserved kudos for driving the whole way, with allowed me to knit in the car until the daylight failed me. I made some serious progress in the chevron scarf. No knitting in the minisweater (yes, I know I was going to wear it in ATL, but my circ cable was too short, and my LYS was out of the size I needed!) but I went to the LYS when we returned and bought a Lantern Moon rosewood circ. So warm and slippy. I am sloggin through, and hopefully will be done soon. I am itching for a FO to post.

My delightful LYS, Unwind is starting to hold Sit and Stitch Night. The next one I can make is May 16th. By that time, my roving from bethbrown.etsy.com hopefully will have arrived. YAY! I want to learn to spin so much. Now, to start with a drop spindle or the wheel....:) I am thinking I can buy a small bag of roving at Unwind to play with at Sit n Stitch, and have the lovely Sarah show me a spindle and the wheel. That way, I can make an informed decision prior to letting my wallet do the thinkin! I am looking forward to this. I have been hoping to spin yarn for some time now.

My girly-friend Rebecca will be coming over next week to help me put together my sewing/craft room. She is also teaching me how to sew with my sewing machine. I have gathered some cute fabric, thread, and notions (visit my flickr for the goods) and am ready to dive into the fabric arts world. Hurrah for crafty friends willing to pass on their addictions to others! (Never fear, I gave Becca orchids, and she almost now has more than me!!)

Until next time...

Ideas?

I am in love with a few of the multi-colored varigated yarns on Blue Moon's site, and i need a few ideas as to what I can make with them (other than the Chevron Scarf).

Anyone out there have any ideas for an advanced beginner??

WIP

Last night during Grey's Anatomy Girl's Night at my friends Leslie's house, I made some pretty nice progress on my Minisweater and my LMKG Chevron Scarf. Today the sun was shining and I took the handknits outside for a little photoshoot. Pardon the newbie-ness. :)

Ahhh...love those colors together. I cannot believe how much I am loving this project. I have to force myself to put it aside and work on my Minisweater, which I hope to finish within the next week. Zoink!

Sorry about the crappy shot, but my stitches are squished on my circ, and I don't have time to go to the LYS for a circ with a longer cable. And I would scavenge the longest cable off of the project currently holding it hostage, but it is my car knit (simple garter stitch shawl) and I have a 7-hour car trip to the ATL next weekend!!

Thanks for taking a photobreak with me! See you soon.

Ommmmmm

Tommorrow, I go to yoga. heaven help us all, I will get stress reilief, peacefulness, oneness with the !@$#@da*n universe, and I will have a mat to knit a cozy for.

I demand inner peace! (puleeease?)

April brings out the enviro-girl in me...

Aveda is offering a Pure Priviliges rewards club. Check it out. Earning products and supporting sustainable products at the same time? Wonderful.

Also, check out Sew Green. These wonderful blogging women are dedicated to helping us become a little more aware of the world, and the options that surround us.

I'm trying to do my part: growing salad greens and tomatoes in my backyard, buying enviromentally conscious products like pesticide-free rice and milk, cleansing products from Seventh Generation, using my dishwasher to dry on the racks instead of using the heated dry option, opening my blinds and keeping the overhead lights off during the day, and using my beloved Hints From Heloise to keep my home running smoothly.

Hope some of these tips help! I'll try to do a sustainable craft post soon....
