Simple things to be grateful for

  • a small head resting on my shoulder
  • a mug of hot tea or coffee on a cool morning
  • dinner gatherings with good friends
  • using something I have created in my everyday life
  • checking on C before bed and watching him sleep
  • seasonal baking
  • cooking all of our meals from scratch. I never realized before how much I love to cook
  • discovering a community of crafty women locally, and actually being able to attend thanks to family
  • loving my home more and more each day

What are you grateful for?

Podcast Recommendations?

I am looking to build a good podcast library. I would love some suggestions for knitting, crafting, spinning/fiber, gardening, sustainable living/green life, and photography podcasts. Any favorites? Podcasts you can't live without?

Starting the New Year off right

So far 2010 has been pretty low key. Phillip is sick with a sore throat, so no smooches for us at midnight. Poor thing. At least it was his turn this year, breaking my streak of getting horrifically sick on New Year's Day. He seems pretty ok with vegging out on the sofa playing his new video games from Christmas.

I have actually been pretty busy. Cleaned the kitchen, organized the laundry room, and I am cleaning up our storage...er...I mean Guest Room to make way for the crib. Why do we have every mismatched sheet set that Phillip had before we got married crammed into the closet? I am going to purge useless items and repurpose the rest. Wish me luck. Hopefully Mom is coming over later to be my sanity keeper as I wade through the mess!

Hope your New Year goes wonderfully!

Happy Halloween!

Happy Halloween to all! We had a blast handing out candy to all of the neighborhood kidlets. I just had to show off the pumpkin my Mom carved for my husband. She has started a tradition of carving him an awesome pumpkin every year. All of our trick-or-treaters loved it. Way to go CraftyMom!

Checking in

Just stopping by to say hi. Life has been crazy lately, and I totally forgot that I have a blog! Phillip and I have been so busy having adventures in the past few months. We traveled to Kentucky to visit his family. While there I was incredibly sick. I was using my inhaler pretty much every 3 hour which was scary. We hiked up the pinnacle and to natural bridge in the Red River gorge.

We went to the Knoxville Lindy Exchange and had a blast dancing and visiting with all of our friends. When Phillip and I got home, we also found out something interesting.
We are excepting our new addition to arrive around May 31st to June 5th 2010. So you know what this means...baby crafting! Phillip and I are going for a more gender-neutral theme with Speck. I love greens, browns and yellow, and we will see in December if I can get some more specific crafting done. We will be able to find out the gender then, so I can really crank up production. As of right now we are planning to cloth diaper, set up the guest room as the nursery, and re-use as much as we can. We'll see! I am pretty excited to sew up some cute accessories. Since we are planning to go pretty minimalist with baby gear, I really want to make stuff we can use. If you have any good ideas or essential items, let me know.
